The Scene – Long the meeting place among the now-thinning ranks of Buffalo's blue bloods, Coles has been a Buffalo institution since 1934. Heavy beams and dark wood paneling set the tone, decorated with a black and white checkerboard floor, gigantic iron chandeliers, green cafe curtains, a handsome bar and vintage wooden booths. – – The Food – Folks stop here for Buffalo's traditional beef on weck or Coles' Old Boys Rugby Burger with a cup of the famous seafood bisque. Baked artichoke dip, baked chili with cheddar, sandwiches like the Reuben brown, steaks, ribs…

The bar is better than the restaurant

Bar: Ask for the sampler! You can try 4 different 4 oz. glasses of beer for $5 from anything on tap (there are a lot of choices and you can choose even the most expensive beer!)
Food: Some of the dishes at Coles are DELICIOUS, but here's the thing: around lunch time you have to be prepared for rather slow service. A few of the sandwiches are just so-so but the entrees are great!
The hours are wrong on here: Coles is open until 4 a.m. at least on the weekends but I think also on some weekdays.
- Pros: Beer selection, Beer sampler, Appetizers
- Cons: Sometimes rather slow service so only go if you have time to linger

top notch service, ordered stuffed peppers to go( worst i've ever had,vry dry not fully cooked bland unedibal)

items on menu should be removed, until they learn how to prepare them. had to throw some items out they served (just really bad) and i'm not usually picky.

great food and value

been there several times - never a bad meal. The service and atmohphere is symbolic of Elmwood Ave. You won't be sorry to try this experience. Cudos to the Mike and his staff.

The bar stays open until 4am.
After-Dinner Stroll:
Cole's is a just a short walk from Delaware Park, Buffalo State College, and Elmwood Strip's funky assortment of shops and eateries.
Hungry?:
Coles always has burgers and beef on weck.
