BUYERS BEWARE -- HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE, HORRIBLE PEOPLE. I read "tonywalkerisascam's" review and it sounds eerily similar. In fact, I was in over the weekend to exchange a dress I purchased in mid-January ? I am from Cleveland (but visit from time to time) ? once I returned home from my Jan. visit, I realized the dress wasn?t right to wear at the occasion for which I bought it. So, I called the store, spoke to a helpful gentleman named ?Anthony? who told me that because I was from out of town, they would be more lenient with the return policy and allow me to exchange it or receive store credit upon my travelling to Buffalo this past weekend. He assured me that I would have no trouble, that they would ?take care of me." The dress sat in my closet for 2 weeks, all tags on in the original garmet bag. When I got to the store this past Friday, I explained to the store manager Brian, that I had spoken to "Anthony" last week and was hoping to exchange the dress. To my surprise, he was combative, rude, condescending, called me a liar and informed me that in fact there was no employee by the name of ?Anthony,? that my information was wrong, he could never exchange a dress a week past the 14 day return policy, that the dress I had bought wouldn?t sell on the floor because there weren?t any left in stock?the list goes on and on. Fact is, I spoke to an employee, who gave me a line of bs and told me something that apparently the store would never back up. I tried to reason with the manager to no avail, explaining to him that someone in his store told me, matter-of-factly that I could exchange the dress. The issue here is an internal one, not one I should have had to deal with. I have never had such a horrible, embarrassing, rude experience in my life. I would advise shoppers to stay away, give your business to Saks or Nordstrom who stand behind their merchandise and policies. Plus, I?ve heard that the owner of the company is inappropriate with his employees, lawsuits pending? Buyers beware!!!
Old, Overpriced Merchandise.
At first glance, Tony Walker & Company appears to carry high-style, fashion-forward items. Countless racks and tables piled messily with shirts overwhelm the store. At closer look, I've found that most of the items are 3+ seasons old. From the first time that I walked into the store (2006), I've seen the same Marc by Marc Jacobs shoes. The annual Tent Sale only marks down the tackiest, glitziest merchandise...you won't find any plain Lacoste polos, basic designer jeans, or solid Juicy tracksuits.
I am a relatively frequent shopper there, due to the fact that their jean selection is wonderful. However, while very large and very small sizes are always in stock, medium-to-small items are much harder to find.
One salesgirl in particular is wonderful; most of the others are pushy, logo-aholics. When I recently went in to purchase a pair of dark-wash, simple straight-leg jeans, a salesperson pushed countless pairs at me with glittery or heavily-stitched back pockets.
I've become fed up with the overpriced merchandise and snobby salespeople. I recommend using the store to find your sizes in certain brands and items that you like, and then purchase said items online retailers such as Shopbop (free shipping and no tax!) or Nordstrom.
Fabulous experience. I was visiting Buffalo for the weekend and had read about Tony Walker in Buffalo Spree Magazine. I had limited time, but was in the neighborhood so I thought I'd stop by. I asked someone to help me find a pair of back strait leg jeans. The salesperson was great! It was better than shopping with my sister! She fetched sizes for me, bent down to roll up the pant legs when they were too long and suggested getting a "Yummy Tummy" when I complained that I had a muffin top! Within 20 minutes, I had my dream jeans and they feel great and look wonderful. Yes, I paid a lot for the jeans, but I saved in time and frustration--and that's worth a lot! I will definitely go back when I'm in Buffalo next time.
Worst Sales Associates Ever. Anyone who doesn't think the employees here are pushy clearly haven't been to the same store I was in. I live in new york, grew up in buffalo and can tell you from experience the service they offer is ridiculously over bearing. Anyone who states they don't work on commisson is full of it. I asked an employee who informed me there was a computer screen that showed all the money each person had earned for that day...anyways, this store is not worth the trouble, hopefully a bloomingdales or saks will come to buffalo and replace this god awful store.
Tony Walker. Tony Walker is a decent store...with some large issues. It is slightly untidy and has some of the worst salespeople i've ever dealt with. They have some grands like john varvatos theory diesel true religion dvf marc jacobs juicy and so on...but don't carry brands like D&G DSQUARED ETRO etc...thus making it more of a contemporary designer store...suitable for buffalo!!!...however after being to some of the best stores all over the world in hong kong, ny, london, toronto like holt renfrew saks neiman marcus harrods harvey nichols lane crawford etc...they make tw look like a thrift store...its sales associates drive me up the wall and make for an unpleasurable experience with their over pushyness...if you're desperate for a local shop however and don't mind awkwardly bumping into friends there i would recommend it.
Relaxed Atmosphere? Helpful Staff? You won't find either at Tony Walker & Co..
Size 6 Uggs are apparently hard to come by in this store. Although the salesgirl made a grand show of her customer service skills in house, she lacked on the follow-through. I was supposedly put on a waiting list for a pair of size 6 classic tall Ugg boots. The salesgirl took down my info and phone number with a promise to call when new stock came in. I contacted the manager by e-mail twice with no reply. Months later, I never received a call and ended up placing my order from the Ugg Australia website instead. I wish I had just done that in the first place!
Also, this store has a great selection of Juicy Couture tracksuits - unless you're a size L or XL like me.
I am constantly hounded by staff in this store. Even when I tell them I'm just looking, it seems to make them more determined. Another time while shopping there, the salesgirl was so hot on my heels that I walked out, without even buying anything I went in for, just because I couldn't stand being watched like a hawk. It made me very uncomfortable.
This store is great for high-end labels, but if you want to make a purchase there, I strongly recommend you know exactly what you want to purchase beforehand so you can get in and get out quickly to avoid that feeling of someone watching and hovering over you.
As many others have stated, save up your cash and make the trip to NYC for a much better shopping experience.
Best store in America. Wow, I love this store! I grew up in LA and spent my summers in NY and I haven't been to a store that I liked better. I was so bummed when I first moved here because I was sure that I would have nowhere to shop. I was in Wegmans one day and I saw a girl wearing my favorite pair of Jeans. (J Brand) I asked her where she got them and she told me the walker store. When I walked in there I almost died. They have the same stuff that they sell at my second favorite store Fred Segal. (This is the store that all the celebs shop at). The celebs would love This Walker store. Every time I go in there they are so friendly and helpful. I have never felt like the were being pushy at all. Much to my surprise they give great advise. Coming from LA you don't expect them to know their stuff but trust me they do. They must do their homework. When I first moved here I couldn't believe that they were suggesting the same outfits that my friends and I were wearing out to Hollywood parties. We are so lucky to have a store like this in my new town. I will support them any way I can. Thanks Walker!
Don't bother!. This place is trying to bring style to Buffalo, but they only cater to white, upper class college girls. There is nothing unique in the store and the "Tent Sale" is a joke - no bargains to be found, just overpicked velor track suits. Best advice - get a cheap flight to NYC and buy your clothes there.
GREAT STUFF....YOUNG BIMBOS WHO NO NOTHING. I HAVE TO SAY I AGREE WITH HALF OF THE OTHER PEOPLE WHO MADE COMMENTS,THIS STORE IS A JOKE,YEH IT'S NICE STUFF,BUT WHEN YOU SHOP AT A HIGH END STORE AND ARE SPENDING A TON OF MONEY YOU DON'T WANT TO BE HASSELED BY SOME 21 YEAR OLD BIMBO,A WORD OF ADVICE TO TONY WALKER,GET AN OLDER STAFF WHO KNOWS HOW TO INNER ACT WITH WEALTHY PEOPLE,WE DON'T LIKE PUSHY AND WE DON'T LIKE TO BE BOTHERED IF WE HAVE A QUESTION WE WILL COME TO YOU.IHAVE SPENT A LOT OF MONEY HERE AND HAVE WALKED OUT EVERY TIME AGGRAVATED DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS IMMATURE STAFF,I WON'T BE BACK,THERE ARE PLENTY OF OTHER PLACES I CAN GO,I GUESS THIS STORE IS GEARED FOR YOUNG PEOPLE AND THERE PARENTS MONEY.
Service and selection is Amazing. Tony walker and Co. is truly one of the kind. The sales staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. I went in to purchase a pair of jeans and had a sales women all to myself. She helped me find a pair of jeans that fit me the best and within my price range. This is the only place in town that you can get that kind of attention and find all the best brands under one roof.
