Awesome place for a wedding!.
My husband and I just had our wedding reception in the banquet hall upstairs at the Century in October and we were 100% satisfied with everything!
The Century changed ownership in the middle of the planning process, but the new owners really made us feel well taken care of. The food was delicious, the service was great (this goes for the normal restaurant downstairs, too, of course), and when we came in, we were greeted at the bottom of the stairs with a sign that said "welcome" in English and in German! (my husband and his whole family are from Germany) This is just one of many examples of the attention to detail which makes this a great place to have a reception, and the building itself is an architectual gem!
Great after work gathering place.
I really like stopping at the Century after work for a drink. There is usually a decent crowd of professionals and the bartenders are always friendly.
I appreciate the "no child" rule- it's great to go somewhere without screaming children or rude brats running around (plus, I have no kids so I don't care!).
Unique bar snacks. They have tater tots and bacon instead of chips/peanuts. If your cholesterol is too low, try the fried bologna.
Buffalo's Worst managed Restaurant.
I have been here several times and will no longer patronize the Century Grill.
I settled a tab with cash, was also billed on my Visa. Upon returning to see the owner, I was refused an audience. The customer is never right at the Century Grill. I know how I would treat customer concerns if I was the owner, and this is not it!
Don't go to the Century. I was treated disrespectfully by the owner and I will not go back.
Chef dosen't now what a cooked mussel looks like. Stoped in while staying overnight at the Hyatt. Got in no problem. Two friends ordered the same meal and got the spicy mussels fry diablo. each got 8 mussels on the platter. After the waiter gave us our order we noticed one platter had 2 unopened mussels, the other had 6 unopened mussels we brought this to there attention, and she would tell the cook. She came back and said they had the same problem last night, but they would not bring out any more fresh mussels, nothing taken off the bill, no free drink , not even a sorry.Pretty much we were screwed. Would'nt go there again. You might tell the cook if mussels dont open don't serve them!!!!!!
Keeps kids in check - They're Not Welcome.
Loved the earlier review from the lady complaining the owners were rude for asking her to keep her kids at the table. This is the main reason I tried this place. I'm so tired a adults allowing their underage children to run wild, scream and treat others with no respect. Here's the owners of Century Grill for being adult friendly!
UPDATE: The restaurant & pub is now adults only. Nobody under 18 allowed. "No Exceptions" it says on their website. I'll be back frequently.
GREAT Downtown resturant. The Century Grill is a GREAT place to eat. The food is awesome!!!! GIANT portions at reasonable prices. My favorites are the GIANT wings, nacho's fish fry's, homemade soup of the day, well pretty much EVERYTHING on the menu. The staff are GREAT!!! Very friendly, and you don't have to wait long to be served. I HAVE taken my childeren there without a problem, as have other people I know. However, my children know how to behave in a resturant. I HIGHLY recommend this resturant!!
My favorite restaurant in Buffalo. Whenever I'm in town, its a given that we eat dinner @ the Century. The food is always amazing, the portions are HUGE and the staff has been wonderful. Once my children (ages 8, 9, & 15) dined with me and we didn't have a problem...but they don't tend to wander too far from me.
Rude owner. I would NEVER go back to the Century Grill again. The OWNER of the restaurant actually came to my table and had the audacity to tell me to "keep my kids at the table". My two NEPHEWS ages 14 and 12 were only looking around the place for 15 seconds as encouraged by me. If the owner of this establishment doesn't want to attract people downtown to spend money and fill a half empty restaurant in already depressed city, then perhaps she should find another job. Actually, that will take care of itself anyway.
