What happened to the online menu – The online menu was very interesting.not at all like the actual menu in the restaurant.First time i EVER had a piece of tuna that smelled and tasted like fish.
Give it a try – I'll start with the positive. The food was good. My dinner partners Lemon Chicken was a little dry, but the lamb gnocchi was great. I had the the lemon veal with garlic potatoes. My only complaint was the garlic, it was raw. If they were saute a little it would have been perfect.
Our waitress was bad. She did the minimum of taking our order and delivering the food. We sat a table for 2 at the top of the stairs. There was not enough light to read the menu. When we pulled out our electronic devices to read she saw us, and did not even come over to replace the candle that had burned out before we even sat down. She then disappeared for such a long time we went down stairs to ask the bartender to find her so that we could get our check. No one asked us about dessert.
Briefly our eyes started to water because of the smoke from the grill, but it cleared quickly.
We went to dinner at 8p and they were out of steak and she had to check to make sure they still had chicken when our order was first taken. So come early. AND don't wait until the last moment to go the bathrooms they are 2 floor down in the basement.
BUT, we will go back for the food there are a few more item we want to try.
overwhelmed by artistic food but not overwhelmed by price. – Visiting from NY, passing by Buffalo to land in this small, quaint, bistro, only to find out the atomosphere is so serene, it can be impowering. Chef Mark has so many ideas for the concept of fine dining that it is captured and reflected in the food and yet, the pricing asked is not damaging to the wallet. From delicious scallops to even the simple chicken marsala, the taste is to die for. With a party of eight visiting & vacationing it is hard to find a restaurant that will accomodate everyone's palate and yet will not put in a frown when it is time to pay the bill. Seafood puff pastry is not heavy but perfect in texture and taste, that it looks too good to eat. Bistro is open to the young crowd & very refreshing to the travelers where even the simple chicken tenders with pasta can be made with a flare. Everything on the menu is made fresh and prepared with style. There is a dish that takes our breath away, spagetti over flowing in a wine glass onto a sea of prawns and scallops. To top the evening, all the desserts are homemade, anywhere from creme bruille to peanut butter pie, we left the restaurant still feeling the artistic talent & love poured into the meal. The restaurant is a must try if "whats for dinner" question pops up and "something different" is wanted. Did I also mentioned the warmth heart felt service is outstanding that ends the evening. Well that does happen when the family run restaurant extends theirs to yours. Bon Appetite.
