A sweet little lodging in a country town setting..
The Scene
Sitting on the site of a log home and tavern belonging to local silversmith Asa Ransom, the inn's original structure dates back to 1853. It now houses a gift shop and library and is complemented by a dining room (added in 1975) and the South Wing (completed in 1993.) The herb garden on the grounds is often included in local garden tours.
The Details
This bed and breakfast has nine bedrooms furnished with antiques and period reproductions. They are full and busy, but in a homey rather than fussy way. All come with private baths and TVs, eight have working fireplaces and many have private porches or balconies. Each accommodation also has its own distinct features, such as the romantic canopy bed in the Rebecca Hamlin Room, the brick wall in the Portia Ransom Room and the private front porch in the Pine Grove Room. Five-course meals are included on Fridays and Saturdays with the meal plan rate. Those planning a traditional, all-American honeymoon couldn't find a better place--Niagara Falls is less than 30 miles away. Well-behaved children are welcome. The inn is handicap accessible.
