Love The SkatePark Idea!

by FormerLockportGirl at Citysearch

As a girl who was born and raised in Lockport, I've seen many things come and go. The SkatePark is an awesome idea. Our young 'uns need a place to go. It's clear the developer of this idea is truly interested in our children. Let's support this amazing endeavor! I propose a new slogan, "SkatePark Now". Let's keep Lockport as a wonderful place to raise a family by supporting this park. Where can donations be sent??

  • Pros: Location
  • Cons: No SkatePark - yet!!

Bring on da skatepark, yo.

by deangelo_barksdale at Citysearch

The current mall s*cks, and is more gay than a handbag full of rainbows. If you like bad cosumer goods priced at insulting levels, this piece of garbage mall is for you, yo. The mothers that run this joint like to buy bad wares for $1 and sell them for $2. I do like the skate park idea though, yo. By far the most innovative thing I have heard in decades. It could be the investment opportunity of the century. Perhaps the biggest no brainer in the history of earth. Lockportians: suffer no more. Support the skate park, yo. When the sun sets in L-port, the yos got nowhere to run. A 24-hour indoor skate park is the answer to our prayers.

  • Pros: Lots of open space and no people-- perfect for an indoor skate park.
  • Cons: It's in Lockport, yo.

TRANSFORM THE MALLTO A SKATEPARK!

by dolemiterulesforever at Citysearch

When I was a boy, there was nothing I enjoyed more than the Lockport Mall. Where else could I browse through Montgomery Ward, slide over to Ames, and shop at the Bon Ton? Where else could I visit the arcade, or catch a movie amongst 6 or 7 other people? The answer? Nowhere. Sadly, our community is faced with a perplexing issue - how to provide wholesome entertainment for our youth. When the weather is bad, there are few places to go. So we all know where kids turn when their minds get idle....to mischief.

I'm here to propose a solution of epic proportions that will revitalize the Lockport community and make it a beacon of hope to thousands of kids searching endlessly for entertainment. My solution? Turn the Lockport Mall into an indoor, 24-hour a day skate park. Not only will doing this drastically alter the landscape of the current despressed Lockport Mall, it will revitalize a community that is desperate for innovation and a step towards the future.

With the soaring interest in so-called "X-Games" and new forms of sport, an indoor skate park will tap into a youthful exeburence that will energize the entire city. Here's how it can be accomplished. We will:

1) acquire the lease to the entire Lockport Mall;

2) remove all glass; and

3) install padding, ramps, disco lights, arena-style lighting, and ceiling mounted speakers throughout the mall.

By doing this, we will transform the past into the future - and make the Lockport Mall into the greatest indoor skate park in the United States. We will operate 24-hours a day, 7 days a week - offering a refuge from the elements and an athletic alternative to the troubles our youth finds at all hours. Moreover, we will encourage local bands to submit CDs of their work so that we can play their music over our sound system. We will charge admission at the door, and sell annual passes. By creating revenue, we will spur growth, jobs, and energize the entire community.

HELP MAKE IT HAPPEN!

  • Pros: The Future of Our Entire Community will be Saved
  • Cons: Only if it doesn't happen

A monument to nothing.

by mrhill at Citysearch

Since nothing exists in this mall anymore because all the businesses have either left or been driven out, it should be religated to the dust pile of history. The Bon Ton is still there though, so at least Lockportians have one place to go to buy better quality clothing. What a waste of a mall.

  • Pros: A nice parking lot for trucks and travel trailers
  • Cons: A wonderful example of mismangement

A Waste of Space

by lavenberry at Citysearch

When the Lockport Mall had a few stores in it, it was tolerable. It has gone down the drain for years. Thousands upon thousands of people have no decent places to shop in the Lockport area. There aren't many places to get decent clothes other than the BonTon in all of Lockport and the surrounding area. Now the mall is going to be a Super Walmart. The way shopping looks in Lockport - looks like everyone out this way will be dressing the same for years to come.

  • Pros: Parking, No Lines, The Bon Ton
  • Cons: , No Clothes, No People
