Lousy Kennel. This place is terrible. We have used them 3 times in the past but only for 2 or 3 days. This time we left our dog for 6 days. When my husband picked him up he was all scratched up with cuts all over his head and nose. They were not even going to offer an explanation if my husband would not have asked. It turns out he got in some kind of fight with another dog, which I did not know was even a possibility. My dog is a big baby so why would they put an aggressive animal with any other animals?? My dogs bed was also all chewed up and his legs were rubbed bare in areas where he had rubbed them continuously on the crate. Do they exercise or distract these dogs at all, or just leave them crated the entire time, or to fend for themselves with other dogs?? We will never again use this kennel. On top of everything else they are not cheap. It cost an arm and a leg to board your dog there...Our adv ice,do not go to Schaffer Kennels.
SCHAFFER KENNELS. WOW right after writing a good ,stellar!, review of the kennels this happens!!! They promised us if our dog came more often the price would be lower than 81.00 and then when I picked her up the price was the same,(plus they threatened to keep her overnight if I was not there before 4 at a cost of 35.00) and it looked as if all they did for her was spray her with doggie perfume! to top it off SHE NOW HAS FLEAS! and she didn't when I brought her in!!!!!...CUT THEM OFF YOUR LIST of GOOD KENNELS/dog Grooming...
Bad, very bad. They hide what's inside.
I took my dog here one day. The creeps took advantage of me. There was only 2 hours left to the day and it was supposed to cost 16 dollars for the whole day. The older man employee/owner whatever was very unprofessional. He charged me 16 dollars. Later I found out I should have only paid a per hour charge.
I asked to see the kennel. He made up an excuse that it was near closing time, meanwhile they wouldn't be closed for another 3 hours after people pick up their dogs. I persevered and still asked to see at least the room my dog would be in. Then he gave an excuse that it was about feeding time. ?? Why can't I peak in when it was just about feeding time? Then I asked again and he gave me an excuse that they don't usually let you see without an appointment. Well... if you need an appointment to see the kennel, then what exactly are they hiding? I came home to find that others said the place is dirty. Of course I never got to see for myself but I do believe that is why they were hiding the kennel from me. What else than that it's dirty? I did Don't take your dog here.
will give Shaffer a try.
I have read everyone?s reviews and will give Schaffer Kennel?s a try. I stopped by to see the kennel for myself and it was very clean and impressive. But again they knew I was coming in.
Based on what I have seen, I will give them four stars and will update everyone on my opinion after my dog's stay.
I am hoping I will not be disappointed with my decision, but either way, I will be verbal on my thoughts.
schaffer kennels good review.
to these people that don't like schaffer kennels, i have been boarding my pets there for about 5 yrs and it is not just a dog it also including a rabbit and 3 guinea pigs. the staff took really great care of my guinea pigs when i took them there to stay when they had skin problems. i have no problem with the owner or his staff. i always been treated nicely. the groomer always have listen to me when i had something special to ask out of her. i will always take them there when i go on vacation and i hope people who read these bad reviews please tke in to some consideration to look at the kennel. this kennel goes out of their way w/ new pets that stay in the suite with taking pictures of them for the owners. so please look at the good reviews
thank u from a happy costumer of schaffer kennels
I have been taking my 2 "family" members to Schafer Kennels for years. The last few visits, I started to wonder exactly what kind of care my loved ones were getting. I was very SAD to say the least!. It's funny, I have been wanting to write a letter to the owners and managers to let them know that I was very unhappy with their customer service and how my pets have been taken care of the last few times they have been boarded there. The gentleman at the front desk (owner/manager) is extremely rude. I felt like I should run away with "my tail between my legs." He makes extremely rude comments letting you know you are a "bother" to him. I, like an earlier person said, took my loved ones in and as usual, informed them AGAIN that one of my dogs chews his paws when he is stressed to a point of bleeding. For this reason, I ALWAYS take him in LARGE chew snacks, as well as his favorite toys. This last time when I picked up my loved one-they gave me his bags of goodies and THERE WEREN'T ANY MISSING OR ANY CHEW MARKS ON THE CHEW SNACKS!!!!!! Hello, what didn't they understand. I REMIND them EVERYTIME that he NEEDS these distractions - but they BLEW ME OFF!!!!! I also am looking for a new second home for my loved ones. Customer service and pet care leave alot to be desired now with this kennel. I realize also that it is hard to control fleas, but my loved ones spent 2 days there and came home covered in them. My cats now have fleas and after 3 months, I am STILL try to get rid of them in my home. To say the least, I also NO LONGER RECOMMEND THEM TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY!!! Before you use this kennel, PLEASE pay them an unnounced visit, so you FEEL comfortable that you can trust them.
terrible. I will never take my dog here again. The Owner is Rude, Cheap, The kennel smells, My dog stunk so bad after he left there. SOO, i SINCE THEN FOUND ANOTHER place that is MUCH nicer & cheaper too & my dog don't stink either from there.
Tucker the Sheep Dog loves this groomer and kennel!.
Our Old Englsh Sheep dog has been groomed and cared for at Scaffer Kennel for all of his 7 years. Can you imagine an Old English bolting out of the car to get into the groomer faster? I always know Tucker is cared for and safe when he boards. In fact , this great staff has given me peace of mind caring for him even during his post operative recovery while i went to work ( our tuck has a thing for eating socks and such).
Becky has no need for extraordinary restraints or sedation while grooming, for she has a wonderful calming , gentle way about her and truly loves dogs as they do her. All I have to do is say her name and Tucker will run for the door. The entire staff is kind and I know our Tucker is always loved and cared for while he hangs with his girls at Schaffer's.
SCHAFFER KENNEL IS A DISASTER!.
Emily was brought to Schaffer Kennels on Friday October 5th. She was bathed just two days before, and completely combed out. She was happy, healthy and clean. I sent her with a freshly washed doggie bed and her lamb stuffed animal and a sock.
Emily was picked up from the kennel on Monday October 15th, only to find her wet with a strong smell of mildew, her hair fully matted, extremely lethargic and she had clearly lost weight. She was also sneezing and gagging non stop!
I had to throw away her lamb (which was her favorite toy), due to the strong smell of mildew. Also they NEVER MENTIONED that she STOPPED EATING!
I gave Emily two days to recover, but she didn?t. On Wednesday October 17th I spoke with a woman who said she was the manager. After I told her how I have always had great experiences with the kennel and bragged about it to friends and family I expressed my concerns. After I told her how upset I was she went on to tell me it was written in the file that Emily was brought in a mess. She said we refused grooming when we brought her in. Which I always do because I gave her bath right before and she didn?t need it. She said Emily pooped in her area so they ?hosed her off? and moved her into a small kennel. Where she spent the rest of her time. They did not give her the bed we sent her with I know because it still smells like dryer sheets from me cleaning it.
My boyfriend called the kennel later that day and spoke to the same woman I had he asked for the owners name and she would not tell him. I spent quite some time that night looking on the internet for the owners name because she wouldn?t tell us.
Because Emily?s symptoms never went away I took her to the vet to get checked out. After a thorough check they said there were no signs of physical abuse but she was very skinny. And that the gagging and sneezing was due to dirt and dust and mildew near her face.
Monday we are going to speak to the owner. We will keep you updated
Great place to board your dog. I have used this boarding kennel for the last 5 years. I've always gotten great service and my dog, Blue, is never traumatized. The staff is friendly. The kennel is clean and well kept. The price of boarding is very reasonable. I would highly recommend this kennel to anyone who needs a safe place for their pet to stay.
