Bayside Guesthouse - a gem within a gem!. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the Bayside Guesthouse in Olcott. Our visit was after the prime tourist season, but it was apparent that Olcott has a lot to offer during the summer months. And Bayside is one great place to stay in Olcott - very convenient to the water, restaurants, and entertainment. Hostess Jane is so very friendly, as are her cats. This is not a fancy-dancy place, but the circa 1910 house has loads of charm, and reflects a lot of hard work by Jane. The bathroom is shared, but for the adventurous, that adds to the experience. The breakfast we had was also not fancy (hot and cold cereal, fruit, toast, coffee), but it was just right for this atmosphere. Jane was very knowledgeable of the area, and we had a great time chatting with her and other guests. Our rating recognizes that the Bayside is not trying to be the picture-perfect place. It is authentic - not Disney-esque. We very much appreciate that characteristic. We'll be back!
