Meal was an embarassment.
My son was visiting from Florida and offered to take me to dinner. I suggested Eckl's because I had heard great things and had a couple of good meals there myself. I ordered the broiled Orange Roughy - it was smothered in butter and cooked to the point the bottom was crunchy and difficult to cut. The coleslaw was warm. My son didn't eat his steak because it was flavorless - he described it as like tofu. He also had mashed potatoes with gravy that he couldn't eat because of the salt. He said the salad was good. Foolish me - I had expected a salad with a $16.99 meal, but I guess a small piece of overcooked fish, a baked sweet potato and some warm coleslaw should have been enough!

POOR Meal.
This has to be the worst $80.00 meal I have ever had. The lobster bisk was luke warm and the roast beef wa ice cool. When I told the waitress she told the roast beef in the back and must have microwave it. I didn't even get a sorry. I will cook at home before I ever eat here again.

YOU HAVE TO GO HERE!!!!.
Everytime we go to Buffalo, everytime our kids go to Buffalo, we eat here! Roast beef on weck is a Buffalo thing but it's delicious. Add some lobster bisque, german potato salad, a drink and your in for some of the best eating you've had. Don't like beef on weck, get their prime rib - you'll love it. Oh, did I say the service was SUPER, and the prices VERY GOOD!

Beef. Kummelweck. Buffalo's native sandwich served here, piping hot and crusted with rock salt..
In Short
One of Buffalo's most famous beef on weck restaurants has (more or less) been in the family since 1906. Its specialty is beef on weck, a sandwich of hot, thin-sliced roast beef on a rock salt-crusted kummelweck roll, which originated and is found only in Buffalo. A pleasant, casual restaurant with two dining rooms has garnered a devoted following. The carvers of the Black Angus steamboat roast beef perform their craft at the steam table. Roast beef sans the roll, a variety of fish and shellfish plates, steaks, chops, prime rib and burgers round out the menu.

After a Bills Game.
A group of our friends went to Eckls after a recent Buffalo Bills game. What a wonderful surprise for me since it was my 1st visit. We all ordered different items from the Menu and shared. I tasted a Beef on Weck that I put on Buffalo's top 5. Yellow Pike that is always on the menu and fresh. Even the Grilled Cheese sandwich ranked excellent. Try it, you will like it.

Eckl's is Best Beef in Buffalo.
Eckl's is a small place, but they manage to move folks in and out quickly without hurrying them. The bar can get a little crowded as usually you have to wait for a table, and the bar area is tight. I have never had anything in here that wasn't absolutely perfectly prepared. Their beef on weck will melt in your mouth. The service is prompt, their servers are very friendly. The beer is cold, the glasses are clean, the table linnen is clean and ...linnen. The dining area is comfortable, not too crowded though usually filled.
