For a taste of history, Anchor Bar is the destination to find the original home of the buffalo wing. In 1964, when Teressa Belissimo served deep-fried chicken wings, covered in a secret sauce to her son's friends, the craving for buffalo wings was born and continues today. In addition to the buffalo wings, they offer an extensive menu for lunch and dinner, drawing on Italian-American inspired dishes. The drink menu offers wine, beer, and Italian cordials to pair with the meals. Live jazz music is played on Friday and Saturday nights. This is the place for nostalgia, a relaxing evening, and…

Great wings - very small
by fuzzy67
I know this is the original. And my Italian heritage won' t let me say anything negative about the birthplace of the best culinary contribution from upstate NY but... The wings are crisp and excellent but ridiculously small. I actually was able to try Duff's out the same night because they were so small. You have to make the trip to pay homage to the birthplace of wingdom.
- Pros: Great flavor, nostalgic
- Cons: sparrow-like wings
Anchor Bar--good wings in a noteworthy restaurant
by violetmouse
My family loves to eat at the Anchor Bar, which consistently provides great service, especially for children. The wings are awesome--I always bring out-of-town friends here and they are always impressed! It's always busy when we eat here, whether for lunch or dinner. I find the servers to be very attentive and the wings (I like my crispy, extra hot), are very good.
- Pros: chicken wings have lots of flavor; good service too
- Cons: parking can be an issue because it's all busy here!
