Buffalo >Anchor Bar
Still fun to take out of town guests. It may be showing its age, but it's still great to eat the original Buffalo wings, and it's always fun to take friends here when they visit from out of town. I kind of like the simplicity of the place. It's a bit like some of the old NYC places I ate. Service could be a little faster, but it's still a unique place with its own low key charm.
Ok wings everything else sucked. the wings were simply ok, nothing special. the service was quite bad, the plates were dirty and the waters had chunks floating in them. there was no music playing so we almost had to wisper so that it didn't sound like we were screaming
sorry people. if you are thinking about doing an online order. DONT DO IT. this is the most rude place and people i have ever spoke to. i placed an order online close to a $100 and never got any of it. when i tried to get in contact with them it took about 4 to 6 days for anybody would return my call. then when they did they said they never got the order. i said i am holding a copy of the ticket do yo want me to fax it to you. then the guy flipped out and said he would get some one to call me back and he never did. i call nobody will return a call. this is the worst place i have ever delt with. i will never try to order anything again.
Hot goin in, Hot comin out. yo, i went they one time fo my brotha's birfday party man, thems wangs so hot that i was making my walls change color with my gas. It also feels like yo poop leavin you sideways dawg, fo sho
Great wings - very small. I know this is the original. And my Italian heritage won' t let me say anything negative about the birthplace of the best culinary contribution from upstate NY but... The wings are crisp and excellent but ridiculously small. I actually was able to try Duff's out the same night because they were so small. You have to make the trip to pay homage to the birthplace of wingdom.
Anchor Bar--good wings in a noteworthy restaurant. My family loves to eat at the Anchor Bar, which consistently provides great service, especially for children. The wings are awesome--I always bring out-of-town friends here and they are always impressed! It's always busy when we eat here, whether for lunch or dinner. I find the servers to be very attentive and the wings (I like my crispy, extra hot), are very good.
Keep driving by...really.. It's stuffy & the wings are not good at all..
Avoid on any night, especially if it's snowing!!. First off, as a local resident, If you want chicken wings, go to DUFFS!!! Secondly, they are frauds. They stole the idea from a small African-American restaurant on Jefferson Avenue which received none of the credit or the glory. Last but not least, during a surprise snow storm back on November 20, 2000, this place tossed everybody out so they could close for the night. Businesses all over the city were taking in stranded motorists and pedestrians and putting them up for the night. The Anchor Bar couldn't be bothered!
There's about 16 places with better buffalo wings than this old shrine to fried food. Go to La Nova or Duff's or your corner pizza place and you'll be far happier.
Don't waste your time.
Location isn't worth the time it takes to get there.
We lvoed it. Wings were great!. We visited this place, obviously due to the fame behind it, while in town for a Bills game a few years ago. We sat at the bar, had a few beers and some wings. I thought they were great and had no problems with the staff as other have suggested. Maybe we lucked out, who knows. We'll find out though as we are heading there again this football season.
