Not a True Italian Restaurant. Dinner was delicious however note that after two hours, you will be asked to leave by the management. My husband and I had dinner with friends we hadn
not really italian food. I'm an italian living in Buffalo since September '09. They told me this is one of the best italian restaurant in town but I hope they were wrong. I went also a second time in order to see if the first was an unlucky night but it has been even worse. It is not really italian food, so heavy sauces that kill everything. Maybe it can be good food for someone but not for me. Very noisy the place but this is not a fault of the management (most of the restaurant I have been in Buffalo are noisy). For the price it is not worth. For a remember of italian food I will try something else. They should understand that italian food at best is light, fresh and few good ingredients, never heavy.
Avoid if you value service and flavour for your money.
Went in with high expectations of this 33 year old neighborhood restaurant on a Saturday night. Overall the service and warmth of a neighborhood restaurant must of fell upon others because my wife and I did not see it.
Was greeted poorly as if a stranger coming into someone's house. To its credit, the place was full of talkative groups of customers showing a regular customer base. However for the visiting tourist and foodie, its best to avoid.
Overworked and distant staff. Despite a less than 75% capacity, there was no welcome explanation of the food, or attempt to sell/show their signature desserts. I look at this as a failure of management to make the decision to tell a customer that there is no more room rather than to try to shoehorn them in.
The staff spent an inordinate amount of time on tables making freshly made salad dressing; good for socializing with the customer but not good during a busy period. They can spend their time helping a customer make a good decision and to make the meal a positive experience.
High acid and common flavor. Ordered an appetizer of prosciutto and fig, the prosciutto was burnt and tasted like common bacon. We had our meals which were served with some character but the sauces and salsas used were too high in acid / bland and did not create a balance in the food. The food could have been paired with a proper wine to help; wait staff or menu help would have helped to avoid this problem.
Go if you are a townie looking for a regular place to go. If you are in town for the weekend, try something more recognizable.
User review by romenzozizzi. the food was imaginative, yet authentic in italian character. we will definitely be back
miss Lombardo's. I have relocated to Houston. Sadly there is nothing here to compare to Lombardo's. I have happy memories of Lombardo's that help me in my sadness. I was awed by the fine training of the staff and attention to very small things..but so very important. I was an employee of Larry Pilarz for 20 years. I miss the restaurant biz. Can't wait to visit again. Keep up the fine work. Just love it...think of a great restaurant?.....think of Lombardo's. It's special. It puts a much needed good face on Buffalo,N.Y. :) thanks x
This is a great restaurant. If you like gourmet Italian food -- not red sauce with cheese, this is the best place in town. This is the place to go if you are into fine dining
Relax and enjoy !. Best Italian restaurant I've eaten at in the Buffalo area. Try the veal franchaise, it's great. You might try a Martini at the bar also.
