Cheap Neighborhood Diner Food at Over Priced Fine Dining prices

I took friends to Jack's Place for dinner last night. I hadn't been there in about 4 years, but I remembered having a decent steak back then. I relayed this to my group, and hoped I wouldn't dissapoint them with my choice. Restaurants change chefs so often, you can never be sure of consistency from month to month.
The menu was nice, but I was surprised to see that pork chops and chicken dishes were $16.00. Oh well, must be good then, right? The bread came, it was a sort of burger roll, not warm...with pre-packaged butter pat tubs. I mean really.... The baby green salad would have been great, but the tomatoe wasn't ripe, and it was really boring. The salad dressings, butter and condiments came in little plastic 'to-go' containers. We had taken 2 bites of salad, and the french onion soup, (good), and stuffed hot banana peppers, (just so-so), came out. Halfway through that, the entree's appeared. I felt rushed, overcharged and ended up apologizing to my party. The pork chops were undercooked and under seasoned. The garlic beans were overcooked and tasted like 'way too long under the warmer.' . The beer battered fish was good, as was the coleslaw. Unfortunately this place failed to impress. and the whole meal was very uneventful. They should consider dropping their prices at least $5 per entree.
- Pros: Plenty of parking and seating
- Cons: prices and quality of food
