Buffalo >J. P. Bullfeathers
hope the owner shapes this place up.
I used to go to Bullfeathers in my early college years and loved it. Now that I'm old (33), married and have a little toddler, I don't get out so much.
So when a friend was having a bachelorette party and the venue included some of my old stomping grounds on Elmwood, I was excited. We stopped in at Bullfeathers and found the bar area was not crowded at all, but it was about 3 deep around the actual bar, and there were 2 bartenders working, one male and one female. I offered to get the bride to be her drink and went up to the bar. One guy let me stand at the bar and said, "I hope you don't mind waiting." WE've been waiting forever. I didn't mind waiting. I worked in the service industry for 8 years prior to the career I have now. I know how it is.
Or so I thought. I was on the end of the bar where the female bartender was working, and I watched her serve everyone in a pretty random fashion, not so much payig attention to who was waiting the longest. She was fast at mixing drinks, grateful when tipped, etc. I did however see her be rude a couple of times to customers who wanted to buy a drink for someone else or who wanted to split the tab. Annoying for her? I'm sure, but in customer service, you are not supposed to show it. And I'm not talking about drunk idiots here--Im talking polite people who are tipping her well.
After she had served probably 20 people around me, and CLEARLY I had been waiting the longest, she finally approaches me. Another girl walks up to the bar next to me right then, and just as she was about to serve me, she puts her hands up and says, "Oh, I don't know who was here first" and serves the brand new girl who literally just walked up to the bar.
I'm a little miffed at this point. Mind you, 25 minutes has gone by and the bride to be has not gotten a drink yet, either. And yes, I was making eye contact, holding my money out, etc. The bartender's friend was standing next to me, and even seemed surprised at how she was acting. I wasn't offended, just exasperated. He offered to get her attention for me, but I didn't need it. I knew she saw me. If she were some young, inexperienced bartender, I would have been more forgiving, but accordig to the chalkboard behind her, it was her 30th birthday, And I could tell by the way she mixed a drink, this was not her first night.
I went to th e other end of the bar and got a drink within 5 minutes--not that he was a very friendly bartender.
The other thing that was weird was that both bartenders left the bar twice at the same time. I have never worked in a bar that busy where both bartenders leave!! I'm assuming there was no manager.
If I owned this place, I would be embarrassed.
And I tip. I tip Well. And we usually spend a pretty penny when we go into a bar.
Our whole bachelorette party of 10 left and went back to Cole's where it was 3 times as busy, but at least you could get a drink.
I have never written a review, but that's how bad the service was that I had to do it this time. And as I read the other reviews, I'm not alone.
Hopefully the owner will hear these messages and shape this place up before he loses more customers
Yeccccch!. First, let me say that I never have been moved to write a review of any restaurant, good or bad. Last Saturday my 7 friends and I had the most disagreeable experience ever. This place is awful. The service was thoroughly unprofessional. The drinks were served promptly, but that was all. We had to ask for bread, and when it arrived, 15 minutes later, it was cold & stale. The appetizers were brought out 30 minutes after we ordered and the entrees came about 15 minutes later. The server did not clear the dishes after the appetizers or after the entrees, although some of our party ordered dessert. The quality of the food was not good, to put it mildly. I would never eat there again and would advise anyone considering patronizing this establishment to avoid this place at all costs.
First visit will be my last.
Was there for dinner in a party of 12 people (we had reservations several days in advance). Slow service, waitress totally forgot one person's dinner, waitress and manager both argued with another in our party about his meal. All the people (with the exception of my wife & I) are in the catering business so they know customer service & how food should be prepared.
I WOULD NEVER GO BACK TO THIS RESTAURANT
good value... nice people!. I have been frequenting Bullfeathers for years, and I have to say it is one of my favorite places in Buffalo. The food is really good quality for the price. And it's not pretentious. The people that work there are always very friendly and give great service. If we want to go out for a bite to eat and a couple drinks, Bullfeathers is always a good choice. That last review totally shocks me!
I will never go back....ever.. I went there to book a party and grab a bite. Between the attitudes and the food, I will never go back. They don't understand customer service or cooking. STAY AWAY AT ALL COST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good food and fun college bar..
Restaurant: Def. eat on the patio. Music can be loud and if you sit inside past 9, the place will start to fill up with people drinking and talking. The food is great! I especially enjoy the steak, chicken wings, and chicken fingers.
You can eat for under $10 because a lot of the delicious appetizers are big enough to eat as a meal and there's plenty of good sandwiches/fries choices. Or you can eat an expensive entree. Up to you.
Bar: $2 pints and well drinks every night of the week. A great place at night: full but usually not so packed you can't move. Tables for sitting and twinkly lights in the window but also loud and full of college students sometimes. It's a nice middle ground between a local student bar and a nicer, more uptight place.
TERRIBLE,AWFUL,DEPLORABLE,need i say mor.
NEVER have i been to a restaurant with such service. First, the place was only 1/4 full and we waited 45 min for a table. While waiting, we ordered beer that was so stale we sent it back. The bartender didn't question why we put the glasses right back on the bar...
Since when is a college pub allowed to charge anything above $40 for wine?? And they expect you to have a decent meal while blasting heavy metal/rap music at full volume at 8pm during the dinner hour.
All food came out uncooked, sent everything back and no one apologized for the poor quality of service all around. Ended up paying $100 for the most unfulfilling meal EVER. Spent a total of 3 hours there. When I tried to speak to a mgr, I was basically told to leave.
NEVER EVER GO HERE!!!!!!!!!!
good food & service. We have been to bullfeather's twice and have enjoyed it very much both times. The servers are well-educated on the wine and food selections. We'll be back!
