Packed with hungry people of every age, race and persuasion, Jimmy Mac's has a dark but friendly bar set up for those waiting for a table. The popular patio is recommended for prime Elmwood people-watching.

The Food
For starters, try the spinach-artichoke dip, a mound of rich, cheesy dip topped with freshly fried nachos. Reportedly the mayor's favorite, the Cajun Burger is a huge, juicy patty blackened with cayenne pepper and other spices, served on a salty kummelweck roll. Looking for something lighter? Try the penne with broccoli and tomatoes or Christine's Greatest, a portabello mushroom sandwich with roasted red peppers, onion, sauteed spinach and mozzarella cheese. Out-of-towners should try the West Side Bomber, a super-spicy Mineo and Sapio Italian sausage sandwich with spinach, sauteed mushrooms, and mozzarella on French bread--a true taste of Buffalo.

Hot waitresses. Jimmy Mac's may be the most fun restaurant in Western NY. The drinks are excellent, the food is second to none, and the staff is hand picked by a very hands-on owner. Few restaurant/bars can match the mix of atmosphere and quality dining that one can find at Jimmy Mac's. I have moved to CA, but always make this establishment a stop on my trips east to Western NY.
