Tips for Tom's Family Restaurant

this place is terrible the owner is so rude they cant give the customers what they want and its way over priced. They Charge $2.16 for a pita that you can get multiple pitas for that price. A glass of Milk $1.99 and you cant get a refill so they make almost all their profit back on tht glass alone. The owner is amzingly rude to her employees, I was their one day amd seen a nice waitress working hard running around and taking care of her customers. The owvner then started screaming her name well she was still talking to customers. I was sitting at the counter and i could hear the waitress as "Would you mind making me a plate" well the owner was already making another plate which consits of putting lettuce on to a plate and she said "actually i do mind" and walked away. I was about ready to get up and walk out right then. How dissrespectfuyl they are your employees are they not working to make your buisness better. You just got done telling her how she needs to work faster and when she asks you for help you turn your back on her. Hello Mr. John-Michael B. but that does not look like a good owner to me. I will nerver step foot in that building again and i hop[e who ever reads this will never even think about going. They are very rude people and i am very suprised they even have an customers left. Oh and when i asked to have a side of spinach added on to my bill they told me no that its not allowed. I wouyld suggest to the owner that she stops acting so fake around her customers and start treating her employees the way they desrve to be treated. Other wise i hop[e your Buisness fails miserably if you keep this up.

Buffalo's best Greek diner!. I’d strongly advise any out-of-towners to ignore the moronic negative comments posted here. It is well-known that such remarks are posted by emotionally disturbed former employees (or their girlfriends) who can not handle being discharged for not meeting Tom’s high standards. Such emotional cretins tend to blame others for their problems, so they passive-aggressively vent their negative vibes in libelous slurs against their former employees. Shame on them!

As to people who cannot always get what they want when they want it, well, we’ve all met our share of spoiled brats who tend to get belligerent in the real world when they can’t always get their way. Ignore them, too. Such people never mastered the sphincter muscles that control either end of their alimentary canal, and they delude themselves into believing that the verbal vomit they regurgitate in public and here on the Internet is actually the truth. It ain’t.

I live within a mile or so of Tom’s, and I have been a regular customer for over 15 years. In a town full of wonderful small restaurants, this family-oriented, reasonably priced, Greek food diner really shines. I’ve gone through the complete variety of amply prepared, delicious breakfasts, lunches, and dinners—especially the Greek dishes—and I’m pleased to say that I’ve loved every single one of them.

The service has also been exemplary throughout. I’m quite sure that the often on-site proprietress trains her staff throughly and demands high standards of all her staff, cooks included. Her caring for her staff and her customers shows up in the loyalty she gets from all the well-deserved, repeat business she has earned over the years.

Tom’s decor has a very comfortable, restaurant / diner feel to it. You can sit at the counter or at a booth. Since it’s a 24-hours oasis of food pleasures, you can order breakfast, lunch, dinner and specials at any time of the day, in accordance with their liberal, but naturally limited, windows of opportunity for dinners and specials.

The range of food you can sample is simply awesome. You can get classic Greek dinners, like Moussaka, Pastitsio, and Souvlaki or Gyro. You can get open plates as well as Greek speciality sandwiches in pita bread. You can get “American” dinners like NY strip steaks, pork chops, chicken, meatloaf, or chopped sirloin. You can eat-in or take-out anything you like, including their famous Texas Red Hots prepared with their special sauce. Yum! Of course, you can have gyro or souvlaki breakfasts, and other egg omelettes, all around-the-clock.

Naturally, depending on what you time you prefer to visit Tom’s, you’ll meet a wide variety of people, from the regulars who come in for breakfast, to the business lunch crowd, to the family out for dinner, to the University of Buffalo students discussing their classes over an evening snack, and to the romantic couples capping off a late-night date before they head home, either together or—alas—alone.

I especially love Tom’s fish fry dinner. Buffalo is a very competitive town when it comes to fish fries. Every restaurant which gets in the game has a slightly different way of preparing the secret batter that they use to dress up their fish, along with the extras that they give you. I have found Tom’s to be among the very best, not only in the exquisitely flavorful batter they use for the fish, but for the choices of potatoes, vegetables, and Greek salad options that come with the fresh fish.

Whether you’re a Buffalonian who’s been living in a cave on the other side of the city, or you’re an out-of-tower looking to sample some local color, you just can’t go wrong stopping in this local institution any time of the night or day.

what an awesome little greek diner. My family and I were vacationing in the Buffalo Area and we needed a quick place to eat that was open late. We found Tom's Diner. Really clean, nice servers, my wife had delicious chicken souvlaki, and my kids had breakfast at 11:30pm (what a bonus). I really wanted meatlof dinner, but they stop serving dinner after 10pm. I had the Gyros Dinner and it was alot of food!!! Nice substitute really good gyros sauce! You need to save room for dessert, the pie case is filled. Chocolate cake is too much though, really rich.

Overall, Tom's is a reasonably priced typical Greek Diner. We will keep Tom's in mind the next time we are in Buffalo.

dont go there. I went to this restaurant Toms on sheridan and bailey. The servers are very friendly, but the cooks and the owner, are not.... I wanted them to grill my roll on my sandwich, and the cooks said NO. (Well, they yelled NO at the server...) the cooks kept yelling and swearing from the back commenting that customers are stupid, and they shouldnt tell a cook how to cook foood, and that the customers should just stay home....very uncomfortable situation. And according to the server, thats the way they act back there in the kitchen all the time.....Im never spending my hard earned money there again..

Could be better...... Had dinner here one night after my shotgun driver couldn't remember how to get downtown....food was OK. Staff was very slow (and it wasn't even all that busy). At least it's got a parking lot. Decent place to stop by if you're looking for a gyro at 3am.

Avoid Late Night Weekends, Great service, horrible cooks on late nights. A gayblade cook named Ed who is filled with disease cooks nasty food and he is rude to customers. I sent my food back 3 times and the dumb motherf@#$%^ still couldn't get it right.
