Good value for price. The food was good for the price. Fishtanks are cool. Servers were friendly & Prompt. Nice variety of food items.
Great place to dine anytime!. Independant restaurant with good food and service. The price is the best part! You can eat here and get delicious food for the same price you can get ok food at any chain. The atmosphere is casual, YES you can wear jeans or shorts. I have heard many say this is fine dining but it is not! The best part is all of the saltwater fishtanks and they just put a new fishtank in that has no top and lets the water flow over the side. Give this restaurant a try!
Won't go back. I went there a few times with my husband. And never went back. They seem to go through alot of employees. The fish in the fish tanks where bigger than my fish fry. In which I didn't like the fish or the cole slaw. I found it to be to expensive for what you get. I do like atmosphere and you pay atmosphere prices they don't have.Friendly ness and more experience go along way in Restaurants.
Surprised!. Well my family and myself have been visiting The Grapevine Restaurant in Amherst for many years. We find the service to be awesome and the food great! The value and quality makes this our favorite restaurant. And I can't forget to mention the saltwater fish tanks. Enough about the restaurant, now there is the catering department! I attended a wedding at The Ellicott Creek Fire Hall??? My expectations were not very high until I walked in and found this to be not your average fire company-a banquet room tucked away in the back of a fire hall? Yes and the decorations awesome!! By my surprise, I was greeted by a hostess at a wedding? As I questioned this the hostess replied " Enjoy your evening and enjoy your experience that is by The Grapevine." I was so excited and when I went to my table the experience began- I knew it was The Grapevine as many of the staff was from the restaurant. I was shocked by the service, food and the whole evening. Bar opened through the entire wedding. Specialty champagne delivered to us welcoming us! Dinner served hot, fast and delicious. I had a great time and so did all the guests I sat with. Hats off to The Grapevine Catering from cooks to servers! And the manegment? A happy upbeat staff comes from loving their job!
we loved it. Read the reviews on this site and was kind of turned off but the buffalo news food critic gave them a great review and I took a chance on this place. I thought it was great, I dont like fancy restaurants but I like good food and this place is informal but the food was great. We had a lobster and crab dip for an appetrizer (similar to the one at Jack Astors) and it was very good. I really enjoyed the stuffed pork chops they give you two large chops that were tender and tasty. my girlfriend had salmon and said it was an excellent piece of fish. The menu is really big, we are looking foreward to exploring our way through it! Decor is nice with a bunch of salt water fish tanks. It seems to always be busy so I would call ahed to get on the wait list.
Go to the diner down the street!. I have been to the grapevine 3 times and all 3 times I was very disappointed. I thought the food was bland and of poor quality. I don't get what the deal is with this place, they are always busy. My parents have been given gift certificates for here and both times they have said the same thing.
excellent food, great friendly service. We stopped into The Grapevine on the reccomendation of friends and definetly were not dissapointed. This is not a fancy restaurant its casual, has 5 fish tanks and one of them is very large with very cool fish. I have never been in a restaurant where everyone is so friendly! I had this bourbon pork that was topped with onion strings and it was very good. my wife had a parmesan topped tilapia that she said it was excellent. I thought the prices were reasonable, about 35 dollars for the two of us and it was a really good meal. I hope you all like it too!
Going Downhill. Well, I think we're losing what used to be a pretty good place to eat. The last 3 times we were in, over the last year, it was so humid and smelled so strong like dirty fish tanks, that the meal couldn't be enjoyed. The last time we asked to be seated in a room with no tanks and that was much better. We've had most everything on the menu and I can only recommend the scallops, (done fried or broiled in the lime cream sauce), the fish fry and the french onion soup. The service is great!!! Unfortunately, the food is just not very impressive.
From the Falls, but now live in Ohio. Always look forward to eating at the Grapevine when in the area.. The variety on the menu is amazing, and what is even more remarkable is that everything is delicious. The dilemma is deciding what to order. Great food and great atmosphere.
Italian.
I don't know why this restaurant is listed under Italian, since it's most definitely American.
That being said, it's very good, not great, though, in my opinion, but in terms of value, amazing (sorry, not awesome: that only refers to birth ,death, and sunrise and sunset.) . I don't currently live in Buffalo, but visit my mom a couple of times a year and we like to go here. She likes to take my cousin's grandchildren here for the fish tanks, which is a warning: IT IS VERY LOUD AT PEAK HOURS. (Filled with kids if you don't go at the right times. Right times means early supper, late lunch.)
That being said, the food is VERY good for the price. We used to go here only for lunch (everything is good, soup, sandwiches), but I've found dinner an even better choice. Dinner fare, we often would go to a "fancier" place in Kenmore where I enjoy veal; here, it's half the price and, frankly , better. Tender and subtly spiced. They make their own rolls, and if you're lucky you'll get the dill-spiced, which run out fast. Deeelicious.
They also have some great Buffalo-style promos: Birthday Club (free meal) and a regular's promo where if you go x times you get a free meal (off already amazingly low prices). Also be aware, their portions are huge so get the smaller size if you don't want to become king sized!
The place is popular, so parking fills up fast. Enjoy!
