Yoga Ma Studio -- Outstanding teachers, beautiful setting, unique spirit

I moved to western New York from Los Angeles two years ago, and honestly I did not expect to find the perfect yoga studio again. So it was amazing to find this wonderful yoga studio right near where I now live! In California I studied yoga for years, and I've taken classes and workshops all over the country -- I had even begun teaching yoga before I moved here. Yoga Ma is one of the best yoga studios I have ever known. The teachers represent many traditions and are not only well-trained, knowledgeable and experienced, but also imaginative (not boring!) and seem to really love what they are doing and to genuinely enjoy their students. You will find everything at Yoga Ma from gentle classes to power yoga to yin yoga. The growing reputation of the studio has even drawn international "yoga stars" like Paul Grilley to hold workshops here. The Yoga Ma "spirit" pervades the whole studio, a spirit of loving-kindness and connection with all life. The incredible natural surroundings of the studio are brought into the classes, from summer practices in a beautiful clearing beside the creek, to the light-filled main studio and the sound of the geese in the meadow in spring, to asana sequences that change with and reflect the seasons. I recommend Yoga Ma to anyone at any level, a newby or like me, an antique!

Best all-around studio

I have attended yoga classes for 30 years and have found no place to compare to Yoga Ma. The owner and instructors are the best I've ever had. The ambience of the studio is perfect from the moment you enter & are warmly greeted; then you see the welcoming corner where you can relax on pillows & read some of their available books. The room where the classes are held looks out on a natural field beside the Cazenovia Creek. Many times they have a waterfall running & there is always soft music playing during the classes. In the winter the floor is radiantly heated for warmth and in the summer it is cool with fresh air coming in the floor-to-ceiling windows or quiet fans are added when needed. Several times I've attended classes held outdoors near the bank of the Creek, and these classes are so special & uplifting with birds singing and soft breezes blowing the tree branches. Yoga Ma has so many other things to offer such as massage therapy, frequent lunches by the creek, meditation classes and guest lecture programs and they even sell their own yogurt products (which are delicious) . I've attended almost every one of their retreats and can't get enough of them. As I said, there is no place that even comes close to comparing it to Yoga Ma.

Total mind and body rejuvenating experience

I leave each class from this studio with a renewed exhileration for life and overall tingling sensation. Every instructor is unique and wonderful. A perfect way to escape the hussle and bussle of daily life, and enter a mind altering experience.

Yoga Ma Studio in East Aurora

Yoga Ma Studio is in the most beautiful setting in the Town of Aurora. All four seasons offer amazing views of the healing river, the meadow, and the cliff beyond. You'll see geese and deer wander by as you're getting ready for class. When you walk in the door the first thing that greets you is the wonderful aroma of the place. It's peaceful and quiet and very nurturing, as are all the people within. The main yoga room is bright and beautiful and filled with a dynamic energy that adds so much to your yoga practice. Each teacher is unique and very helpful. Yoga Ma also offers many extra events. I received my own mantra there during an amazing weekend when the swami came to visit. There's a book group during the winter months that always helps me deepen my yoga practice and understanding. And, Yoga Ma gives back to the community by holding events to raise money for Child and Family Services in Buffalo. I cannot imagine life without Yoga Ma.

Extraordinary yoga studio

Yoga Ma Studio is not your typical yoga studio the teachers there live their practice, as well as teach it. It offers yoga at every level for everyone interested in this path. I personally would recommend this studio with no reservations.

Best People Make Best Yoga Studio in WNY

I came to Yoga Ma on the recommendation of a friend who I work with. We both are physical therapists and I have over 26 years of experience. The reasons I have stayed at Yoga Ma are numerous. I had wanted to learn Yoga for years, but did not think I would like a group setting. Fortunately, I got over myself. From my first class, I was amazed at how welcoming everyone was. The location is beautiful and the studio is lovely. The instructors make Yoga Ma and they are absolutely wonderful. I have had the pleasure to learn from 5 of the many qualified instructors. I started in the beginner's class and have taken various classes including private sessions, special workshops and seminars offered by Yoga Ma. As a clinician, I appreciate the instructors knowledge and have learned allot about Yoga and its effects on the body. I now frequently include Yoga in my practice and refer my patients to Yoga Ma. As a person, I have learned a great deal about myself and I am very thankful to Felicitas and her vision for Yoga Ma. If you are looking for a special studio with wonderful people and a setting that is perfect for Yoga - you cannot do better than Yoga Ma.

not what it is cracked up to be!

Was not impressed with glitzy name and the website is also misleading

classes are not what I expected for the price

I found the classes not to flow

the instructors seemed not to have any experience and teaching abilities. They were moving you from asana to asana with out any flow. They were not knowledgeable about what body systems they were working- no explanantion or what vayus they were working
