Do we really want to deal with Tandoori's? by Molly E. at InsiderPages

My boyfriend and I are longtime lovers of Indian food. Tandoori's advertises with WBEN, a western NY AM radio station that we listen to often. It didn't take long before we made our way to Tandoori's. We were both very excited, WBEN has sent us to great restaurants in the past and we trusted the advice of Tom Bowerly and Sandy Beach (Radio personalities.) In the first ten minutes, I was irritated with the service. The dining area set up is very crowded, and we were there on a Friday night-- big mistake! At Tandoori's, you deal with 4-7 waiters during your dining experience, one to fill your drink, one to take your order, one to re-fill your drinks, one to bring the bill ect. almost all of whom are very pleasant and helpful. There is one waiter (who may be a manager as he dresses in formal wear and is the only American) who will make his way to your table (before you order, and possibly to take your order) regardless of how busy the restaurant is. I was reminded of a shoddy second hand car salesman as this waiter gave his speech about Indian food (though we assured him we knew what we were doing.) My boyfriend and I, experienced with Indian dining, had made up our minds as to what we wanted to order. This waiter came to take our order and in a very condescending manor, tried to sway us to order the most expensive entrees and pushed us into ordering more food than we needed or wanted (and wouldn't leave us alone until we did.) We assured him again, that we had made up our minds and he said NO, you don't want thaaaaaaat, you want thiiiissssss! You can imagine how frustrated we were at this point. My boyfriend changed his entree, just to get him off our backs. He got an entree that he was unhappy with, and his beer (the only American micro brew on the list) was $13.00! Upon leaving Tandoori's we both recognized that the Tandoori Chef frozen food line (found in Tops and
excellent...awesome food and service

Previously to visiting tandoori, I was not a fan of Indian food. We have eaten there twice in the last 2 months. I thought the quality and taste were excellent, as was the service. All of the servers were courteous, patient and not pushy at all. The highlight was the dessert, Golub Jamba. It was to die for. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Prices were fair as well.
- Pros: food and service
- Cons: none
rude waiter, mediocre food
by george321 at Citysearch
This was our first visit to Tandoori. The atmosphere and the food was mediocre. The curry was cold and watery.
The one redeeming quality: the bread was hot, crispy, and tasty.
The waiter, a non-Indian, who fit the sterotype of an obnoxious highschool jock, had a chip on his shoulder for some reason and served us plenty of thinly concealed disdain and attitude.
Well, that left plenty of sour taste in our mouths. We tipped a normal amount, but I wonder if we should have not tipped at all.
We won't go back there again, even if we get a different waiter. We don't need to pay to be treated like that.
- Pros: good bread
- Cons: service, curry
Good Food!

This is another place I checked out while travelling - and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes Indian food and avoids chain dining. They start you off with a free "sample-sized" appetizer - a nice touch. The food is good, although I think the portions are relatively small for the price. If you're dining family style, I'd recommend at least one dish per diner - unless you are light eaters. You might want to throw in an appetizer or two to share as well. A funny touch is the rose they present to each woman at the end of the meal.
- Pros: great food
- Cons: somewhat pricey
Yummy food and great service, a little pricey for regular dining, best value for buffet

I love Tandoori's lunch buffets. you get to taste a little bit of everything for much less than regular dining prices. The first time we went it cost almost $50 for a garlic nan(which is like a bread), a chicken fried rice, a chicken curry and a couple of beers. The advantage is that you can get the dishes cooked to your specification of spiciness, but if you go to the lunch buffet you can easily ask for a little dish of hot sauce to add to your food and it's the bomb. I think weekend lunch buffets are $12-$15 but if you go during the weekdays it's only $8.98 for the exact same items, and you even get free nan. All in all, the food there is awesome and the service is excellent, the staff are extremely friendly and attentive. I would definitely suggest trying the lunch buffet for first timers and once you figure out what kind of dishes you like then go for regular dining, the ladies get a fresh rose after dinner!
- Pros: Great service, excellent food
- Cons: a little pricey

Tandoori's is by far the best indian cuisine that I have ever had. The waitstaff is execellent and attentive and the atmosphere is wonderful. Even a rose for the ladies! It doesn't get much better than Tandoori's!
